Transformation through Service

An essential and life-changing part of an Episcopal education and the Saint Mark’s experience is putting faith into action. We participate in service projects across Broward County and help connect nonprofits to the Saint Mark’s community. Through our actions, we transform those we serve as well as ourselves.

Service opportunities

Ongoing partnerships and charities we serve:

  • Fill the Bus for the Bahamas

  • Seafarers - Holiday boxes

  • Partners in Breast Health

  • Upcycle - uniform recycling campaign

  • Food Pantry of Broward County- Thanksgiving food drive

  • Red Ribbon Week

  • Planet Patrol - Beach Clean Up

  • Drop in the Bucket - Building wells in Africa

  • Manor Pines – Senior living facility

The event culminates in a family service night at Saint Mark’s. Acts of kindness include:

  • Card making for a senior living facility

  • Operation Smile - blanket assembly

  • Operation Smile - puppet making

  • Operation Smile - collection sorting

  • Carry out for Kids collection

  • Letters to Forgotten Soldiers

  • Senior Home craft - Paper flowers

  • Children’s hospital craft – Card Making

Leadership at Saint Mark’s

Developing Future Leaders

Students have the opportunity to take on leadership in many forms at Saint Mark’s – from Student Council to being an athletic team captain to reading in chapel in front of the entire school.  Leadership skills are a part of the daily fabric of Saint Mark’s.

National Junior Honors Society

7th-grade and 8th-grade students with a 3.7 GPA and a minimum of 25 Service Hours have the opportunity to apply for the Saint Mark’s chapter of the National Junior Honors Society.  Once a member, students elect leaders and participate in service projects throughout the year.

Student Council

Students from 4th – 8th grade that meet the requirements, can run for Student Council.  Each student prepares a campaign and speech to present to their peers.  The Lower School Student Council is led by our 4th grade with Dr. Rotella as their advisor.  The Middle School Student Council encompasses representatives from every homeroom and a leadership team is elected.  The Student Council votes to support different charities with bake sales, $2 dress down days and collections throughout the year.  Service to their peers and to the greater community is the charge of this group.

Student Ambassadors

An 8th grade privilege, students who apply have the opportunity to represent Saint Mark’s at Admissions Open Houses, at Back to School Nights, at Orientation and other events throughout the year.  They are the face of the Saint Mark’s product and are proud to represent their school.
