A Love of Learning, Inside and Out

Saint Mark’s education is best characterized by a love of learning both inside and out. The classroom can be a wonderful and nurturing place, but we want to prepare students for the world well beyond.

Class Trips

5th Grade – Saint Augustine / Camp Kennedy Space Center

Students visit the most important and exciting historical sites of St. Augustine and explore the history of exploration at the Kennedy Space Center. Sightseeing and tours in St. Augustine on day one includes: Castillo de San Marcos, Oldest Wooden SchoolHouse, Fountain of Youth, Our Lady of La Leche/Mission Nombre de Dios, enjoying an Old Town Trolley tour, visiting the Alligator Farm, strolling along Saint George Street and ending the day at the Pirate Museum. On day two students will head to Cape Canaveral, FL to visit the Kennedy Space Center. While there, students engage in space training simulators, experiencing the sounds and sensations of blasting off in space, tour the Apollo/Saturn V Center, and get a close up view of the Atlantis space shuttle! Blast off on a 5th grade trip of a lifetime!

6th Grade – Circle F Leadership Experience

Saint Mark’s 6th graders spend two days and three nights at Marine Lab, located in Key Largo, Florida. As part of their science curriculum, they will perform labs, attend lectures, and most importantly snorkel in the sea grass, mangrove, and coral reef habitats. Marine Lab is a closed, gated facility where expert instructors take safety of students and chaperones as their number one priority. This trip is a fan fav of our students.

7th Grade – Marine Lab

In 7th grade, students spend two days and one night at Circle F Dude Ranch in Lake Wales, Florida. There, they work on team-building skills as they perform a variety of outdoor challenges, some individual and some in groups. Activities include horseback riding, a giant swing, a 60-foot Alpine Tower, outdoor challenges course, and a high ropes course. Our students always return as a closer and more interactive class.

8th Grade – Washington D.C.

The culmination of the 8th grade social studies curriculum is a trip to Washington, DC. During their three days and two nights in our nation’s capital, our students visit the U.S. Capital Building, Smithsonian Museums, The National Cathedral, and the Lincoln, Jefferson, Martin Luther King, Jr., Korean, Vietnam, and World War II memorials. Perhaps the most moving moment of all is attending the Holocaust Museum’s permanent exhibit. Our students return with a much larger appreciation for our history and inner workings of our government.
