Saint Mark’s at a Glance

Each child. Each day.

Our academic programs are rigorous, standards-based and rooted in best practices – but we believe education should be more than academic. Personalized education that meets your child where they are – understanding their unique strengths and needs, learning style, talents and interests. Saint Mark’s is a culture of discovery and learning whose goal is to develop well-round people who are engaged future leaders of their communities.

Our Mission & Values

Our mission at Saint Mark’s Episcopal School is to provide an education of academic excellence within an Episcopal Ethos which includes spiritual development, ethnic and cultural diversity, service to community, and respect for self and others.

Our History

The idea of an educational outreach of the Episcopal Church of Saint Mark the Evangelist was born in 1954 in the heart of the Rector, Douglas Styles, who later served as the first Head of School. By 1959, Saint Mark’s Episcopal School was established and classes began with a preschool. Enrollment soon grew to 127 students in grades nursery through third.

Today, Saint Mark’s is a Toddler–8th grade school with about 500 students and close to 100 faculty and staff members. While the numbers and setting have changed dramatically, we remain true to our commitment of "Each Child, Each Day" and the core values of a strong Christian foundation, enriched academic excellence, a diverse community, and a commitment to family. Saint Mark’s is a place where education, innovation, and community intersect.

Enriched Academics

We are devoted to nurturing the whole child — mind, body and spirit. Our dedicated teachers and staff utilize an evidence-based, growth mindset curriculum that goes beyond core competencies, extending into areas like social-emotional learning, digital citizenship, habitat conservation and global politics.

The K-8 Model

The K-8 model offers a great balance. It gives lower schoolers a nurturing learning environment and challenges middle schoolers to grow as leaders and role models. With their strong leadership skills — developed at a young age — our eighth grade students appeal to a wide variety of high schools.
