Grades 5-8
Curriculum
Our curriculum is based on leading research as well as proven best practices.
Personal development
The middle school years are full of change and the supportive structure of Saint Mark's works with the personal developmental stages of each student.
At a glance
Grades 5 and 6
These grades focus on transitioning our students from Lower School to the responsibilities of Middle School life. Saint Mark’s provides support to 5th graders and new 6th grade students with a special orientation for parents and students. Mentoring by teachers and fellow student "buddies" also assist in the transition.
Grades 7 and 8
These grades prepare each student for the added independence and responsibility required for high school. During our High School Selection Program, we will work with each family, beginning in the spring of 7th grade, to help navigate the decision-making process.
Growth mindset
We embrace a "growth mindset" with a willingness to work hard, take risks, learn from mistakes, and constantly seek improvement.
STEM/Science
Our Project Lead the Way (STEM) curriculum provides a truly hands-on approach to science that involves real life applications with each unit. Middle School students engage in robotic coding, design process, problem solving, simple machines, work with calipers, and how to scale items when designing. Autodesk inventor is used to design CAD models that can be 3D printed.
