Dear Prospective Families,

The faculty and I welcome you to St. Mark’s Episcopal School, home of the Lions. Each day we warmly greet students eager to learn ranging from age 18 months through 8th grade. As an Episcopal School, we inspire in our students a love of Christ, a dedication to service and a strong desire to achieve success through learning. As an independent school, we receive our educational accreditation through the Florida Council of Independent Schools, Florida Kindergarten Council, and through the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. St. Mark’s offers a rigorous and varied curriculum that provides for a well-rounded program based upon four pillars of education: academics, the arts, athletics, and spirituality.

The academic program prepares students for college preparatory courses in high school by offering advanced classes in math and Spanish and enrichment opportunities in language arts and science. Our teachers are trained to differentiate instruction according to individual student’s needs. Teachers are encouraged to develop strong parent partnerships with frequent communication to parents through Renweb and email to ensure the success of our students and the program.

The Fine Arts Department instills in our students a love for music and art starting in the Early Childhood years. Students may participate in the school choirs beginning in 1st grade, the school musical beginning in 3rd Grade, band beginning in 4th Grade, and Chamber Choir, Steel Drum Band, and Flute Choir in Middle School.

St. Mark’s Athletic Program offers a wide variety of sports including flag football, volleyball, cross country, cheerleading, lacrosse, basketball, soccer, softball, and baseball, with a state-of-the-art gym and an athletic field with a track. St. Mark’s has partnered with Coral Ridge Country Club to offer golf and swimming and offers a tennis program for students starting in 5th grade at the Tennis Club.

Students participate in chapel and weekly Eucharist as acolytes, readers, ushers, and cross bearers, and weekly religion classes. Community service and the Honor Code are integral to the service and leadership opportunities provided to our students.

The Mac Lab for Lower School students and one-to-one Chromebooks for Middle School students provide them exposure to dual platforms. Interactive Smartboards are in all of the academic classrooms.

St. Mark’s Project Lead the Way: Gateway To Technology (GTT) program is a project-based curriculum designed to challenge and engage the natural curiosity and imagination of middle school students. Students envision, design and test their ideas with the same advanced modeling software used by companies like Lockheed Martin, Intel and Sprint. They study mechanical and computer control systems; think robotics and animation. Students also explore the importance of energy, including innovative ways to reduce, conserve and produce it using solar, thermal and wind power. The knowledge that students gain and the skills they build from GTT create a strong foundation for further Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) learning in high school and beyond. Throughout GTT, students acquire knowledge and skills in problem solving, teamwork, and innovation as well as explore STEM careers.

As you can see, at St. Mark’s we offer a wide variety of learning opportunities and educate the whole child in a manner that emphasizes the love of learning. We view each child as an individual with a unique potential for success.

I am incredibly proud of the work done at our school and I sincerely look forward to discussing with you the academic, spiritual, and personal goals you have set for your child. Please call and schedule a visit with us, so you can see first hand the benefits of a St. Mark’s education.

Sincerely,
