Zahra Shivji was the valedictorian of the St. Mark’s graduating class of 2014. Now a student at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, she is in the top academic 1% of her class. She has run on the Varsity Cross Country team for 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. During her sophomore year, she founded the Social Justice in Action Club, which is dedicated to promoting volunteerism in the student body and has presided over the club since its founding. She is an officer in the Rho Kappa Social Studies and Science National Honor Societies. Additionally, she belongs to five additional honor societies, including art and math, and is on her high school’s math competition team, for which she has won several honors.
Zahra is a National Merit Semifinalist and AP Scholar with Distinction and was nominated by her high school for the Miami Herald Silver Knight Award in the Art category. Furthermore, she was named a 2018 YoungArts Foundation Merit Winner and has had her artwork displayed at a juried exhibition at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale. As she is awaiting response from several universities, she has not yet decided where she will be attending college next fall. Zahra fondly remembers the St. Mark’s community and teachers that inspired her interests in art and math.
We are so proud of you, Zahra!
