Elizabeth Bedley is a current Sophomore in the NYU Steinhardt Vocal Performance – Musical Theatre program and has grown up singing, acting, and dancing her whole life. She attended St. Mark’s for eleven years and while there, performed in ten productions, sung in choir, and competed in Chamber Choir; she also was selected to perform at Florida’s All State Chorus (FEMA) in Tampa, Florida. She has studied dance at Dance Dimensions for fifteen years performing in numerous amount of jazz, tap, ballet, and modern pieces. She attended high school at Cardinal Gibbons High School and while there performed in ten performances and was the President of Troupe 6362 and the drama department. Some of her favorite credits include Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Janet Van de Graaff in The Drowsy Chaperone, and Gertrude McFuzz in Seussical. The foundation and her love of theatre stemmed from the nurturing environment St. Mark’s provided for her. What actually first drew her attention to the stage was her older sister being a part of the productions. The director at the time let her sit in on the rehearsals and even saved a front row seat for her at every performance. Elizabeth was mesmerized while the cast would make little gestures to her from the stage.
St. Mark’s really allowed Elizabeth to be herself both on and offstage and provided an opportunity at such an early age that is many times hard to find nowadays. She can’t thank St. Mark’s enough for being the basis of her career and would encourage all the current St. Mark’s students there to never give up and follow their dreams no matter what – anything’s possible if you stay kind and work hard!
